Pyro Replacment

I've got about 100,000 on the original pyro probe and was wondering if or how often they needed replaced. I've been using the original one Edge sent with the J/A and thought about replacing the probe and sending in the ATT to have it calibrated. Am I wasting my time?

Just buy a new one....... I replace them periodically as I have seen too many guys hurt engines from having a bad probe!

as in they break off and cause damage or they stop reading correctly? not that I've been around the forum all that long but never heard of one breaking off.. just curious if they really do become brittle and break off, or if they don't read correctly after so long?

They can do either, although pretty unlikely...

Id just take it out and take a look at it, see if theres a ton of soot buildup on it(shouldnt really be much, and should just wipe right off) or see if its brittle/any hairline cracks.
I really dont think it would be an issue unless the truck has been ran pretty hot many times. If you're getting speratic readings or just not normal, its a cheap/easy swap.
Theyre only $30ea for the Edge pyro.

No not breaking off but becoming unreliable. Guys use the pyro to determine max temps and end up overheating parts......
