Question Propane ???

I have made several mods as you can see in my signature and photos, but I am still wanting a little more (Who Doesn't). I have a friend that has a propane kit off his old Ford race truck that I can buy for around $400 and I am wondering what that will do for me? Will the Bullydog still work? And any other input would be appreciated. My EGT will hit 1700 degrees now and my system defuels, will the propane help?

I think I would go with a water/methonol injection instead of propane. The water will cool and the methonol will give a bit more power.

I have it and love it you get about 70hp more at wot it comes in small amount at 5psi of boost and max at 15 psi. My gas mpg went up 1-2 mpg.
It's not going to help your EGT's they will get worse you are going to need more air. Propane systems have nothing to do your chip they run on there own. You do feel the difference when propane comes on.

How do I get more air?
I already have the AFE stage II and a different muffler for higher flow; what is the next step? I don't want the truck much louder than it already is. I do blow lots of black smoke even in level 3 so more air makes sense.

Then can I do the propane? It seems like a good deal; and more power I'm in.

I would start by making sure that you have no leaks from the turbo to the intake, a loose boot that gives out at say 20 psi boost will short your motor for air, I don't know if you have gauges but a boost gauge will tell you if you are not getting enough boost from your current turbo.

nitrous will clean up that black smoke nicely and increase hp.

Stock turbo only going to handle so much hp you can stack all kinds of hp items but if theres no air to match ratio then you will heat up.
More air = Larger turbo or Twins

I get 38 psi boost at max according to the Outlook Monitor from Bullydog. I get my pre-turbo egt of 1787 degrees from the same monitor. It makes great power and I like that, but if I could do it with less smoke and maybe a little cooler that would be good for me.

More power is always good too.

How much are the twin turbos anyway? Is there any trade-in value for the stock ones?

Your looking at a bigger turbo or possibly twins depending on your power level if you want to cool that truck off. Water/meth can only do so much to lower temps.

Is it even possible to hit 1787 with just the BDDL? I would make sure your outlook monitor is working right because I've heard that they can have weird readings sometimes.

I say the same thing your boost is pretty high for stock turbo and egt of that temp could cause damages and engine should defuel before it gets that hot?
I would check gauges

It does defuel, but by the time it does the temps are pretty high.

I will check with the installer and Bullydog to make sure though.
