Pre in the back half of the collector a few inches above where your turbo mounts. Search the forum for pictures and more posts.

I agree with the above. But with my Edge they said to put in the top of the manifold, however i opted for the location just above the turbo.

Pre....Gives you a better reading...Although when BigBlue put his sensor in pre and post we discovered that at WOT there was only a max of 350* difference.

The difference varies with fueling and turbo choices...more boost...more temp difference.

Don't risk guessing. It is just as easy to mount pre turbo!

Rocky,
Acutally, it depends on what you are trying to learn from the temp. If you want to know what the EGT's are before you shut down the engine so you can increase turbo life then you want one post. But for everything else - pre is better. I only have one gauge now so it is mounted in the exhaust manifold (pre). When you read these threads and you see people talking about EGT's as they relate to fueling boxes, turbos, air and exhaust systems, etc., they are referring to the pre turbo temps. The "magic" numbers are approximately 1250F max pre turbo for daily driving, towing, etc., and 300F (approx) post turbo for turbo cool down. These numbers are of course guide lines w/ varying opinions.

I plan to get another pyro gauge and connect it to a turbo cool-down device. A guy can not have too many gauges
