Possible to wire remote starter and High Idle?

I was going to go to our local auto accessory shop and get a remote starter/alarm system installed in my truck. They have already said they can do the delay for the grid heater, but I wanted to know if there is anyway possible to wire in an option to have the high idle feature come on automatically too.

As long as they activate all of the accessory wires by relays to turn the whole truck on, which they should do in a standard remote install anyway, then the High Idle function in your '06 occurs automatically. I just watched my truck auto engage the high idle today.

The high idle comes on automatically if:

The truck is in park.
and
After 2 minutes idle time the coolant temp has not elevated to 200 deg.
and
The driver does use the accelerator pedal.

If they install the remote start module correctly, then the truck behaves as if the driver is in the seat and has hit the key. If the truck needs the high idle, the truck will engage it. Hope that helps.

That is an interesting idea. My truck is a stick and it does not have cruise. Now sometimes when I am at a long light or a drive through line, I am wondering if I need to rev it up.

Thanks for the info. I'll try mine out in the morning when it's colder. I didn't know it would come on automatically. That would be really nice because then I wouldn't have to try and tap into any wires!

I tried that yesterday morning when it was cold and waited about 5 minutes. Nothing happened. I went outside and it was idling normal. Is there any other way to make it idle up automatically?

My 06 6speed has never high idled on it's own. I went and had the high idle enabled at the dealer.
I love it it warms up so much faster now.

My truck idles up to 1000 RPM if its under 30 degrees outside and its in park. Don't know if its the same for 06's.
