2200 miles down to Vegas and back for the Shot 08. Almost home. Climbing that nice long two-lane upbound out of Poulson. In the passing lane, spinning 2400 in sixth, 30lb of boost on tap, and the guy alongside I'm about to do it to, all in and nothing left. More than half the pedal to go with Smarty tuned for the 40hp milage setting.
Dropped the hammer, expecting to see some REAL boost #'s.
Yes, I have the plastic intercooler sideplates.
The EGT was already 1100, so I got out of it fast and got over to the slow lane. I expected the EGT spike but it didn't and once the whoosh died, everthing seemed normal. Except no boost. Got on it a little and it spooled up power like normal.
Pulled off at the top of the hill, popped the hood and took a peek. CAC looks fine. No pulled tabs, no started seams. Turns out it was the darn hose blowing off the back of the gauge and rattling around inside the A pillar until the pressure dropped off.
After my armpits dried out, got in and drove her home. Superglue.
The CAC gets a reprieve.
BTW: averaged between 18.2 and 18.5 at 75mph down and back. And that's a major improvement over stock. $85.00 of my Smarty cost refunded already. (18.4mpg vs 15.0mpg over 2200miles)
