By-Pass Oil Filtration Systems... (FS2500)??

Hey all...

Was wondering what people on here knew about By-Pass Oil Filtration kits such as the FS2500 that we all see in our magazines.

Does anybody use one? Is it worth the investment? How is it installed?

Has anybody used one on their transmission? How is it installed?

Lastly.. Where do I order one?

I have one installed on my truck and it really gives me piece of mind more than anything at this time. I am getting ready to send in my first oil sample after 8K. I run mobil one synthetic and have been told there will be no problems at all. I just worry because the oil is so dark( I do blow alot of coal through her)

Is the oil dark after 8k miles? If the FS-2500 was working shouldnt it remove the soot in the oil like it states giving cleaner looking oil? Just an observation on my part. I purchased a frantz bypass but have not installed it yet.

I was told its no so much soot but a dark tint, I saw the oil test results from a guy I know with a 03 with the same darkness and his passed. My friend has a powerstroke with the same system and it looks clean as a whistle.

I am considering a bypass for my truck as well. I have been talking to a guy that was banned from this site who just installed the amsoil kit(by-pass only not the combo full flow & by-pass) he told me he made a road trip shotly after installing his kit and when he left his house in PA he could barely see the dipstick through his oil when he arrived in SC the oil was as clean as if he just changed it. To me thats the way the by-pass is supposed to work.

I never have under stood how the oil in my truck turns as black as it does about 10 miles after an oil change. You would think with the filtration system would keep it looking clean. My uncle has a Durmax and his oil is clear when he does his 5000 mile oil change. He dosent even have a filtration system.

My oil is black right after I fire the truck up after an oil change. And I've got an Oilguard bypass AND a Motorguard bypass... Soot is extremely small. Don't know the exact dimension but I think I remember reading somewhere in the vicinity of .01 microns. Hard to fathom...

I guess I will let you all know how the fs-2500 works on the trans. I am getting my ATS stage 5 today and filtration solutions is getting me another filter for my trans so hopefully it will prolong my trans life as well.

I've seen the videos of the FS-2500, in some cases it cleans the oil color and some it doesn't, not sure why but the oil analysis speaks for itself, if you've got black oil and the report comes back saying its good and does not need changing then there ya go, could be the type of oil perhaps it changes color with heat. But as long as the particals are out and the lubricity properties are there then its still good.

Dang this is an old thread. Bypass filtration will NOT remove soot from your oil. Black oil doesn't mean bad oil. If you like clean oil, get a gasser.

yes and no...on the motors before the third injection event, it does keep it looking like new...on the newer motors, stays black.

so, to date no company has a bypass product that will remove soot from the oil on 3rd gens? Thats kinda weird, considering all the technology in the world today.

As long as the soot doesn't clump together (which any good oil will stop from happening) there will not be a problem. I have had many oil analysis done with my black oil and it is always fine. To date, no one has a filter that can go down to the submicronic particles that soot maintains. Again, soot is something like 1/100th of a micron while engine wear occurs from particles in the 5-20 micron range. Soot is too small to hurt our engines. It just makes the oil black. It took me awhile, but all the good samples have given me confidence that black oil is NOT harmful. One less thing to worry about...

My 04 (no 3rd injection event) has the amsoil bypass--- oil is black very soon after change... like about 1k miles.
