pakbrake question regarding manual tranny

I just installed the PRXB on my truck and it works great, I am sure that I am gonna love this thing! I plan on leaving this on all the time while driving loaded or unloaded.

My question is in the operation of the brake. When I shift, and go through the shifting procedure, the pacbrake just starts to engage at the end when I am releasing the clutch peddle and applying throttle. It only engages a half second and it is only enough to hear it...it does not actually begin to slow the truck. So it does not affect my driving technique at all. However, I just wanted to ask if the frequent on/off of the brake while shifting can cause any increased stress/chance of failure on the brake itself?

Just on the install side of things it went pretty easy. My humble suggestion to anyone doing this would be to definately remove the front tires and the splash shields in the wheel wells. This simple step provided easy access to get both hands on the brake on the passenger side and on the drivers side it made it a lot easier to get access to the 50-pin connector on the ECM.

Thanks in advance for answers to my question.

Its just like any other part, They have a life expectancy.
This one, Life is measured in the number of times it goes on & off, Get the Clutch Switch kit and it will last that much longer.

Mine is wired directly to a switch on the gearshift so that I (and not the computer) can tell the brake when to go on or off.

I always felt stoopid when I left the jake on in driving a big truck and trying to accelerate . . man this thing is slow (and noisy).

DITTO! Part number is #C20097. I've had the brake for about 8 months now. I just installed the switch and it's much better to drive now.

I had one in a 96 12 valve. You are going to love it.

I plan on putting one in my '06. I'm going to use a shift mounted switch only. Not sure how the clutch switch would work when double clutching to pick up rpm for a downshift. (clutch out in neutral and on the gas) To maximize the pacbrake it must begin at the highest rpm, so I naturally began increasing rpms on downshifts which means double clutching because I want to be fast and yet easy on my trans.

etn, I double clutch as well when downshifting. My problem is when I upshift I obviously want the RPM's to fall so the taller gear matches the lower RPM's, and that's when the brake just starts to engage. The clutch switch will have no affect on the ability to double clutch as the brake is just momentarily turned off as long as you are depressing the clutch pedal.

I also just chose to use the switch on the dash instead of on the shifter since I just plan on leaving it on all the time. So I think based on the advise from the folks at pacbrake and here that the brake on all the time with the clutch switch is the way to go.

I double shift for every downshift. Still think that just the shift mounted switch is the ONLY way to go.
