I loaded the SMARTY software for aftermarket turbo stock injectors for the boost fooling. I liked the way it ran and i could easily hit 40psi. After a day or so I got a CEL and a 0243 code for wastegate controller. I cleared it with my smarty and it returns right away. So I changed smarty SW back to the normal stock turbo and injectors program and it is still there. Oh ya I can no longer build boost, with either SW version, 22psi is about max but more often only about 18psi. And temps are racing with no boost to cool it out. Is my wastegate stuck open? Is this even possible with an electronicly controlled gate? Any help or ideas would be apprieciated.

does anyone know if the wastegate is controlled by the ecm or is it the map sensor?

 

that code is set when the ECM detects an open or short circuit in the Wastegate solenoid circuit.
I would look at you see if you have a damaged wiring harness or connectors... then I would suspect the Wastegate solenoid..

 

I'll check and see if I can find anything. I did't ever mess with anything under the hood, only software but that doesn't mean that it couldn't mess with the solenoid having the extra boost pressures.

 

I got this code when i installed my silver 62 with mech. wastegate. does anybody make something to plug in the wastegate harness? or can i build something and just hardwire it?
