Oil Pressure or Tranny Temp Gauge??
Oil Pressure or Tranny Temp Gauge??
I'm about to order up some Isspro Performax gauges. I already have a low pressure fuel, so i want to start by adding a 4 pod with boost, egt, rail, and tranny temp. Then i got to thinking that since i haven't been towing much and have a stick, maybe i would be better served with a real oil pressure gauge rather than tranny temp, what do you all think?
I guess with the performax i can always put in both oil press and tranny temp sending units and swap out gauges real quick if i'm towing and want to keep an eye on the tranny...

I've got them all, and I'd say go with the oil pressure. I've never had to "back out" or slow down due to high trans temp. I think the highest I've seen it has been around 210 - 215° F, and that was after 20+ hours on the interstate at 75 - 80 mph towing 8,000 lbs.
Most of the time, the rear diff runs hotter than the G56, and would be the limiting factor in the drivetrain. For normal summer conditions, I may see something like 140° front diff, 160° trans temp, and maybe 170° rear diff.

good to know! I think i will start with boost, egt, rail press, and oil press in the quad pod for engine monitoring and then later add a triple cubby hole pod with tranny and both diffs. then i only need 10 more gauges, i like these performax options....
