If you're talking about using a stock 2nd gen manifold, I'm not sure a stocker can handle the extra weight of the twins?

does your S400 have a mounting bracket or is it just hanging there...the ones I have seen have mount for the Primary turbo(s400).
I guess I wont get to many answers about any of this not to many people are crazy enough to build there own twins
maybe I should just man up and buy the BD manifold....what you all you twins guys running??? ATS, BD......?????

Thanks

As I said above, I have the ATS... it's what came with the Piers Twins.

I read somethread in here before stating BD and ATS were the same? Coming from the same manufacturer?? I dunno the truth of that. I would think that either would be so close in performance anyway that I would shop price first.

Mine has a really beefy bracket supporting the primary. I still think the extra weight might play a toll on the manifold though. I guess you could always start out with a stocker and just replace it if it does end up cracking? That would save you a nice chunk of change.

Mine is 3 pc, I think only the 2 is being done now. Not sure. It really doesn't matter that much, it is just purpose built for heat expansion eliminating cracks and exhaust leaks.

is your manifold 2 or 3 peice???
I thought about doing that but I wounder if the two manifolds would be deferent enough that if I did change then nothing would line up...and that would be a big bummer...if they are EXACTLY the same then I think I will try the 2nd gen manifold first..
anybody know???

I just noticed there is a 2 piece ATS manifold in the classifieds for sale it says it wont work with his compound set up that it needs to be the 3....so I guess I just answered my own question as far as 2 and 3 piece.

I don't know the answer to this, but it occurred to me that my stock ran cyl. 5&6 to one port and 1,2,3,4 to the forward port. If the 2nd gen was this way too, turning it upside down pushes the top turbo forward in the engine bay creating more space for the bottom turbo. The aftermarket manifolds are centered. This still gives more space for the bottom.

I'm not really sure how many pieces mine is.

I could be wrong, but I assume the stock 2nd gen and aftermarket 2nd gen manifolds line up exactly. If they didn't line up then all the 2nd gen guys would have to move their entire exhaust system forward quite a bit when they went aftermarket. That would be a major pain in the butt for the single turbo guys.

2nd Gen Manifolds (stock or aftermarket are both the same configuration)turned upside down are most commonly used for twins to give more room for the lower turbo and piping. Aftermarket ones tend to be three piece.

Aftermarket 3rd Gen manifolds are 2 piece.

Oh man, this write-up is going to rock!

Now Mark, you've developed a certain standard with your previous write-ups. We expect you will keep that same high standard with regard to the twins write-up.

hahaha Thanks Justin... I will make sure to take a ton-O pics and include part numbers....this wont be much of a how too tho....you need a pretty good arsenal of metal fabbing tools..witch most guys dont have.
but it may help a few peps who would like the satisfaction of building their own....plus I am on a budget so I will be gathering parts for a while before I start anything. oh yeah there is the part where I still gotta buy a clutch too
