Official DTR Members "Twins" Club
With the size of this group of folks running twins there should be a lot of useful information here. I'm sure a lot started with a big single like me and maybe tried several before going to twins. Big singles are laggy up to arround 10 psi boost. Some just take longer than others to get to 10 lbs. I believe the hx 35 may be the quickest spooling with the S300 being close.
What seems to be the quickest spooling twin setup that will support 600-650hp with out being over worked?

Sorry jrussell-- the quickest spooling is what I have... custom Ball Bearing turbos...and will support 750+hp.
GaveuponTV has the MPI stocker over s400 and is here in Sacramento. With similar fueling and HP levels, he spools slower, does not flow as much PSI.
That is not to say it isn't a good setup, it is... just not as fast nor as much...and this is talking about the 74mm s400 here.
However the stocker over s400 is a lot less $$$.

Billy Ram,
I found the HX35, in its best Dodgezilla configuration, to top out at supporting about 600hp... a hot 600 at that. That was with a BHT3B on the bottom. There are better top turbos to use now...

I was thinking that too and the HX40 will cool things down a bit but with more lag. I've seen HX40/HT3Bs handle over 700 hp. I used to run a HTB2-62/14 that spooled a bit quicker than the HX40 some firends were running and it cooled better too.
The only way I can describe to help understand how these spool is: think of a truck with the stock HE341w with Smarty beta 4.4 on sw9 and the spool you would get to 30psi... These will spool just as fast but to 60psi in very close to the same time. In other words, stupid fast... and the sound they make- loud and unreal!

Understood! One thing I've done before is ask the dyno operator to give me a plot of HP versus time. Then one can actually calculate how long it takes to go from X to Y HP. It would be cool if you and your friend could dyno at the same time and compare these spool times at similar fueling levels.
Post the sound file if you can't post pics yet!

A friend did a video on his phone at the last drag I went to and we are still trying to figure out how to download it... it has sound and even though from the grandstand and the quality not being great, all you hear is the turbo whine...And all you see is my truck, for about 6 seconds until the Mustang appears... he was that far back

So what kinda money are we talking?I'm about to drop the wad on a set from Nathan but the way you're describing your set up it sounds like spending a little more on the BB's might be the way to go.
