No fuel pressure guage needed!!!!

I've heard this before but even genosgarage.com is now telling you that you don't need a pressure guage on the third gens because even if the LP goes, it won't kill the injector pump. The truck won't run but it won't hurt anything. It goes on to say that it's still not a bad idea to have one though. I guess if the truck stops running you will be able to tell if it's because of the LP.....

I would tend to agree. I have not seen any cp3 failures that were blamed on the lp failing first. Also, Duramax uses the same pump without a lift pump.

Instead of getting a better lift pump, why couldn't we just do away with the lift pump all together? Once the LP goes the new trucks stop running. If there wasn't one there it would be one less thing to worry about....

It's sure nice to have a fuel pressure gauge if you start adding performance parts including a pusher pump - so you can know where your pressure is. It's also nice to be able to monitor fuel filter life. I don't think it's a NECESSITY on 3rd gens, but it is a nice addition.

With a fuel pressure guage and a pusher pump you will always have the fuel you need and be able to monitor whats going on. No sales pitch just facts

I already have the guage but I think those pusher pump systems are just WAY overpriced!!!!!

Here's my .02 on the whole thing. I believe the problem is that if the current lift pump dies the CP-3 can't pull fuel past it due to the LP design. Here is why I believe this to be true. I have installed the RASP on my 3rd gen. On the 2nd gen's with the Carters you had to install a check valve to keep fuel from back-flowing thru the Carter and bleeding off the pressure from the RASP. On my 3rd gen I didn't need a check valve in the LP feed line because it won't flow any fuel in the off position. I've got 17lbs ahead of the LP and if you pull the feed line to it off you don't get any fuel coming out off it due to back flow.

Like I said, just my observations.
