I'm a newbie....i've had a few diesels with chips, intakes, exhaust, etc...i've hooked up to a sled a few times...not a complet idiot but need help/advice.....I've got a 05 w/ a 6 speed...105k on it...tranny going crazy....feels like syncs and bearings GONE...gears feel good...I'm thinkin about yanking it and rebuilding it...HELP PLEASE

What are the actual problems or symptoms? Are you the original owner?

These manuals are pretty solid and with good normal maintenance they usually don't need a rebuild. But like anything mechanical, it can break and need to be fixed!

 

Ummm, if that date is May of 04 its an 04.5 not an 05, but it is an NV.

If that date is April of 05 then its a G56.

 

I read that as April of 05.
I thought the split for NV and G56 was in the June to July time frame?

Either way, without more info we won't be able to help much

 

Well, here's the easiest way to tell. Is reverse to the right and up, or to the left and down?

right and up = NV5600
left and down = G56

 

MY05 started shipping in Aug-Sept 04. The split on the transmissions is Jan 05. Everything fron Jan 05 on is the G56.
