New lift pump and 2 mic filter !

Yeah, yeah , yeah.....pics will be up tomorrow night! Digital camera was DOA! Anyhow, I put on a BD lift pump and a custom 2 mic filter. Mounted the filter on the back side of the intake horn......pretty nice fit I might add! Put the lift pump back on the frame rail, just in front of the tank above the skid plate. Well protected I think......worried about the snow/ice build up though !? Ran 1/2 " line from the factory filter to the 2 mic filter, and also from the 2 mic to the CP3. Hard to tell if any improvement on the SOP dyno, and fuel pressure sending unit is on it's way from quad ( my original is on the blink!) So far , with a questionable sender, the pressure is up to about 9 psi at idle and 3-4 @ WOT. Really was hoping for more......? Maybe the new sender will prove me wrong though! Let's hope so! The following is a list of parts ( I can get numbers if you want ) with approximate costs. ( Man....hope the wife isn't reading this after the 1129$ tires, and 600$ ball joints and tie rods! )

Lift pump kit BD Diesel - $300 shipped.
WIX Filter head, 2 mic filter, strainer filter before pump - NAPA $75
Big line kit - Vulcan Performance- $36 shipped
1/2" Fuel line - Cummins Dealer - 6' - $12
More fittings from NAPA - $30

All toll , it took about 4 hours to put on and that included fabbing up the intake filter mount , wiring up a relay for the pump ( BD's kit runs the pump right off the factory wiring......wanted heavier guage wiring myself!), checking for leaks and of course , a few beverages! Not too many though, needed to keep my head straight! That and opening day for deer season is in ohhhhhhh about 4 hours! Short night tonight!

Next wil be a set of Bilstein shocks, alignment, and 4" exhaust, and I'll be done for awhile! LOL ----- I keep telling myself that at least!

All of these are NAPA numbers
Part number for filter head -4770
2 mic filter - 3528
strainer - 3270
all fittings were 3/4 NPT to 8 AN
I bought the Vulcan big line kit basically for the 2 fittings for the CP3 and the bottom of the factory fuel filter canister

I thought that BD would push more pressure than that. I guess I'm glad I got the Walbro pump. Now that it's all done, if you wnat more pressure later, you could just take the BD out and put in a Walbro and a regulator. I got the adjustable regulator from Wicked Diesel and adjusted it to 15. I think it drops to 8 or 9 under WOT.

Yeah.....the BD kit was more economical at this time for me! I figured I can always put another pump on of a different brand now that the wiring and such is there. Regulator returning to the vent tube would be a piece of cake now! I was pricing putting my own "kit" together for the pump, but couldn't find the wiring and the pump bypass block and all the other items any cheaper than the BD kit, so it will do for the time being. I still am waiting on the new FP sender from quad to verify actual fuel pressure as well. I may check it with a manual guage too. Getting burned out on all the work on the truck lately........it might wait a few more days!

Here's a few pics......cell phone will have to do........digital camera is still DOA! The bluish glob on the bottom of the pump is silicone sealant. Just trying to give the connections a fighting chance!

Do you still have the factory lift pump on the side of the motor or did you take that all off?

Used the lift pump bypass that came with the BD kit. Also....I ditched the BD pump......not enough pressure. Switched to a Walbro and regulator from GDP. GDP also offers the lift pump bypass plate.
