New Exhaust Turbo-back

I need to replace my muffler and I'm considering just replacing the whole system with a turbo-back becaus most of the exhaust pipes look a bit rusty. Are there any tricks that I need to know around removing the cat?

Also, I've read a couple good reviews on the Diesel Dawg 5" Expandit kit. Any other recommendations? I'd rather not spend a ton for an exhaust and it looks to fit the bill pretty well.

I'm new to the forum so take it easy on me, eh?

Thanks, Cru

just sawzall the downpipe in half and it will fall out. if you want to keep the downpipe with cat in tact, then you have to remove the tranny crossmember to get it out.

I have the 5" Expandit kit on my 06 and it's great. Fits well, hangs out well, and sounds great, & Luke over at Diesel Dawgs is good people. I ordered mine with the muffler, installed it, took the muffler out & straight piped it, & yesterday put a muffler back in. That system gives you those options. I installed mine with band clamps instead of the u-clamps so I can just undo the clamp, disassemble, & reassemble; I'd reccommend spending a little extra & buying the band clamps. System's been on my truck for about 3 years now. And, oh yeah, great to have you on the site!!

I have a 5 inch Expand it that i had on my 09 6.7 SB. well i just got back in to a 06 Mega cab and am going to put the 5 inch on my 06. I had to cut the pipe that is in front of my muffler to fit my Sb. I know the mega cab is built on a long bed frame. so would you happen to know what the length is supposed to be with a long bed? thanks Mopar72

I'm not sure but I'll go out there & measure my pipe section lengths I post that for you, maybe that will help.

Ok, sorry it took so long, went out to the shop & found something to get into.
So here's what I got: On the downpipe from the break (not from the flange but from the bend break) back to the first joint is 13". (I don't have a cat). The midsection of pipe is 57". I have a 30" muffler (end to end), then have 7 1/2" behind the muffler to the break that turns up to go over the rear end. Everything is just the way it came out of the box - I didn't cut anything.
Let me know if you need any more info. I'm not much on editing pics but I could make a drawing of some sort if you need it.
Hope this helps!
