New '04
New '04
I have an '01 24V that I bought new and have mildly modified. Edge EZ and an intake is all. 220K and still going strong on the original 47RE.
My son just bought a Cal spec '04. Pure stock, 235/460 motor with an NV4500 and 173K miles.
What do you folks experienced with the CR engine think is the proper order for mild and reliable bombing. Looking for 100 extra horsepower or so.
What are the weak points on this rig that we need to be aware of?
Thanks for your time

The NV 4500 is the weak link, the 5th gear nut loosens and you will lose 5th gear. Lugging in 5th gear is major cause, so use lower gear when pulling heavy loads. New 5th gear and new lock nut usually can fix problem if no damage is done.
