Guys,

Look at the mods. This is my truck. She runs very strong, but when taking off it takes about 2-3 seconds for the turbo to lite. It seems doggish at first. Then all of a sudden she launches. I sold my smarty thinking it was the culprit. But it is still there. With the Race box, once the turbo lites it is fun!!!! But I don't see the "I just hit the pedal and spun the tires" that so many people in here report. My slushbox is running great with the goerend stuff in it. hmmmm....

My truck does the exact same thing....thinking it's the tight converter that makes it harder to spool the turbo right off the bat.....a looser converter let's the turbo spool faster....but i could be wrong....definately looking forward to some opinions.....my DTT Converter is between tow and race.....not excessively tight....only solution i found so far is to do a quick low psi boosted launch....

I know selling the smarty was stooooopid!!!! I lost 200 dollars on the deal.

I have a stock turbo, goerend triple with valve body and shafts. I am happy with the power, but take off is so slow. If I do a boosted 10-15 launch its ok,

but take off sucks!

I hope someone chimes in. I have the same problem but mines a 6spd. Bullydog on extreeme helps a lot, but I would still like the "hit the gas...spin the tires" takeoff too!

Is another power adder really the tirck? I'm getting plenty of fuel with beta 4.4 as is evident by the huge cloud of smoke prior to the turbo lighting.....

Yeah but most of the smarty fueling is on the high end.. I have the 4.4 too and it's night and day when you turn the mp-8 off and on...

A bigger turbo will take even more low end to get it lit...

Not arguing, just trying to understand....

When i try 4.2 (much more low end fuel), it does the same thing??? And prior to the Trans work, it wasnt an issue....but i didnt really pound on it as i don't have the nerve (like you ) to test my stock trans setup to the max!

mp-8's are cheap, maybe i'll pick one up...just don't want too much pressure....

Thanks guys, I have a feeling we are dealing with tranny issues here. Not as in broken stuff, just really tight. I will talk to Dave today and see what he thinks. I have to say the Qzilla Race Box is awesome when rolling, but I need more low end.

Let us know. I have a tight "tow" converter from Dave. I see the same issue to an extent. If I "roll" on the throttle, it will spool pretty well. If i mash it... lots o' smoke... although using the aftermarket turbo program smokes a lot less than the beta. hmm...

You need to get your smarty back BTW.

Never just mash the pedal...that is what stock fueling and stock turbos are for!

I cant lay into the throttle more than 1/4 till I hit 10 psi of boost...then hold on.

A downloader is the best way to get power down low...coupled with a MP-8 or a Quad. Make sure you are not throwing so much fuel that you drown the turbo.

When you say slow to light...are you smoking like mad till its lights or...no smoke?
