Need advice on the Edge / Attitude.....

I am in the process of having an Edge/Attitude installed in my '05 Quad cab as I write this.. I have no other performance modifications to this point and will be using the additional HP and torque for towing purposes only. I'm not a HP junkie.

The diesel shop that is installing this tells me that I should be fine (as it relates to tranny, exhaust, etc>) if I stay out of 4 and 5. They mention the only other mod I should think about would be the intake. Is this true? I dont want to spend more money than necessary, but want to make sure I dont end up on the side of the road without the warranty backup as well.

What level should I be towing with? I usually have around 10K behind me, with the occasional 18.5K load.

I appreciate anyones thoughts..

Thanks.
Bob

Welcom to DTR!!! the most expensive forum I've ever joined. Assuming that you have a 48re I would stick with level 2 for towing. When towing 18.5 watch your egts and keep then under 1250, you might have to turn you settings to stock to keep temperatures down. A good cold air intake will help lower you egts, look in the DTR classifieds for a used one. Fill out you sig so we know what you got.

Or you can do your own intake with parts from Home Depot for a cost of ~$20.

For towing, and towing that heavy, leave it on 2/3.

When empty, give 4/5 a shot and see how fun it is

As for an air intake, build your own, MUCH cheaper.
I have pics in my gallery of mine, cost me $60 for the filter, the rest I had lying around(4", and 5" exhaust pipe)

Not yet, but you will be Edge on 2 for towing is safe. As far as intake, just keep a close eye on your EGT's, if you are running high pulling on level 2 then you need an intake. Another good cheap mod is get rid of your muffler, that will help get your EGT's down a little also. Good luck!!

edge

That is how it all starts out, then one day rollin down the freeway you'll wonder "what dose five feel like? Then bamm youre hooked. it's like a time bomb sooner or later it is going to happen, and then before you know it you're a compulsive modder.

When towing, you'll slip the locked converter in Level 3. Even sometimes in 2.

The Juice is great, I leave mine on 3/5 all the time. Lot's of power and still great mileage.
