N Fab step bar

Just ordered a set for my QC, cab length with four steps. When ordered I was under the impression they bolted to the body mounts. Now I learn they drill through the body pinch weld and put a bracket on the inside. If you have them how do they hold up and are you happy with the installation. My concern is salt water, 10-12 times a year I drive on the beach in Texas. Will the drilled holes rust in a hurry?

yes it will if you don't do something to protect it. I changed out all the hardware that comes with them to stainless steel. When I drilled the holes, I then sanded and primered the area. Any time you drill into your truck it's a good idea to do this.

The steps IMO, are very nice. You'll need to retorque the bolts a few times but, after that... no squeaking at all. I have a couple friends that probably weigh 300 to 350 a piece. I asked them both to get on the steps and bounce up and down. The steps didn't budge.

I drilled mine out painted the holes and the new ss bolts I bought and sealed around them with silicone. I also weigh like 350ish and they are very sturdy.

That's what I did as well. I used grade 8 machine bolts. The bolts supplied by N-fab aren't the greatest.

I'd definetly spend the extra money on grade 8 bolts.

Does anyone know of a company that makes nerf steps like N Fab's that mount to the frame? Thanks.

The set I had dented the rocker panels on the bed because when the truck would twist they came up and made contact with the rocker. On my buddies truck they pulled staight out of the pinch weld while driving! Go Rhino make a set that is similar to the style of NFab That is what I'm going with next.

Pulled it out of the pinch weld when the bed and cab twisted enough for the bar to hit the bed? I'm getting just the cab length so I'm not concerned about the bed hitting...breaking pinch welds is another can of worms!
