My new fuel mix got me 21.5 for the first time

I have been doing my own little test for about 2 months. I do the same 85 mile R/t about once a week. This average was based on me reseting the overhead while on the downramp to the highway. It is 83 miles of highway and 2 miles off highway with no lights. Some hills are involved. I also set the cruise at 69 on I95 (35miles) and drove 55-60 no cruise on I93 (7 miles). So here are my findings. But they maybe flawed. I took my truck to the dealer and they adjusted the tranny. But I do not think it should matter. All of these were down with a new full tank of fuel for each new mixture

Power Service --19.2
Power Service w/MM 19.5
Marvel Mystery 18.8
FPPF Total Power 19.7
Power Service & FPPF 21.5

I have found my new mix tonight. I put in about 8 ounces of each. Truck ran quieter and smoother. KNow I know traffic and other things play into my studies. But I usually only run down at night. So the return is very light traffic and the way down is always around 8-9 pm. Plus my new found mileage was after a dealer visit that adjusted tranny.

You add 8 ounces of each what???? The Power Service and FPPF? And are these mileage claims based off of one 80+ mile trip??? If so, I can tell you that today my truck got 20.4 MPG with nothing more than driving 55-60 MPH because of extreme Fog and rain, and I have owned my truck for over a year and put almost 40K on it (122K and counting) and I normally get 17-18 MPG on the highway driving normal (70-75MPH)

I really would love to know what you get with more miles on a tank of fuel. My best was 21.8 mpg and 799.2 miles on 1 tank of fuel just using Power Service also driving 65mph with cruise. Please let me know your results. You might be on to something if you get that kind of mileage with your new concocksion.

I wound up with 21 mpg using power service and driving 50 mph because of snow (I was in 4wd). Slow is better!!!

The Ethyl Corporation strikes again!!

Although it is manufactured by many chemical companies under license, the Ethyl corp developed it. Remember the old days of "Ethyl leaded gas?" That was one of their best. Now we have the 2 ethyl-hexyl nitrate additive for Diesel engines.

Many of the secondary additive companies like FPPF use 2-ethyl-hexyl nitrate in their blends. 2EHN has been helping mileage in Diesel engines for years. It raises the cetane level and helps the autoignition time ( shortens it ) when conditions in the cylinder are cooler and less dense. Examples are empty trucks, slow engine speeds, etc. Under heavy boost and at higher RPM ranges, the additive effects are much less, because the heat available for autoignition is higher.

Higher mileage and easier starting is the result.

Don~

SS our trucks are worlds apart. I have a 4x4 with the 4.10 and the 600 series motor. Yours is an 03 2wd 6spd tough to compare the 2 when it comes to fuel mileage

I agree it is not sold at the major parts stores. I get mine at Fleetpride. The guys tells me they also sell it in the 55 gallon drum.

Since you have all this data on one truck, could you/would you possibly try out some Howes? I would love to see what you get with that.
