muffler information

Folks,

I'm looking to install a Donaldson or Nelson muffler on my truck. While I have lots of muffler companies I can buy from, none of them have an application that will fit without modifying the piping.

I'm wanting to know if either of these companies have a muffler that will directly replace the OEM unit. Same length (or similar) same kind of offset inlet/outlets. I've read all the threads, but can't seem to find that answer. Lot's of part numbers, but that's about it. Don't really care about the noise vs. a longer or shorter one, just want rid of the stock muffler.

Thanks for any help.

You will not need the offset...just some straight pipe to replace the portion of mid pipe with the dogleg bend. Stick you head under there and you will see how to do it. It is not hard.

The Donaldson and Nelson applications are not for our truck specifically, but work great!

if im not mistaken, after the downpipe where it drops a little more, can't you take that and flip it up 90* so it would be straight for a straight through muffler? i remember seeing it on the aeroturbine website i think...

My truck has a cat. (04.5) and it has to stay. Which means I can't rotate the intermediate pipe to fit a muffler. And the outlet has to stay about where it is to, or the tailpipe won't clear the bed at the back.

Banks and MBRP make cat back kits that use factory mounts with no modifications. I am sure that their are a couple of others. Cost is more and you have to their muffler options. I have the Banks Monster exhaust cat back on mine and like it.
