Mounting Winch
Mounting Winch
OK, I'm about ready to put my winch on my truck
The winch mount from my 2000 1/2 ton won't work. I priced the Warn mount @ $602 for grill guard, and $282 for brush guard (stainless). I can get a winch bumper for about $1,300, to $1,600. What are you guys using, and what would you recommend?

I have a friend who is a welder/machinest - I'm making a winch bumper. A ranch hand bull bar type thingy... $200 in steel or $1500 ready to mount with paint on it. I'd talk to some small metal fabricators. They could make you a one-of-a-kind winch bumper, have Rhino-liner sprayed on it and you'tr good to go. Can do neat things like the main bumper part dbl'ing as an air tank, weld on chain hangers, hi-lift jack mounts, light tabs, etc... Most will work pretty cheap for side jobs and beer

I was wondering about the added weight of winch bumper. I have a warn HS 9500 I. Road Armor and ARB both make nice looking bumpers, but my truck already sits a little low in the front. I think they make a leveling kit for these trucks. Haven't looked at the Buckstop or Maverick, but I'll check them out. The Transformer is what I priced @ about $900 total. Think I'll do a little web searching.
Thanks guys

My bumper is all aluminum. Weighs 38 lbs. heavier than OEM. I think the trucks can handle an extra 38 lbs.

I have the transformer mount also...didn't want a shiny front end so went for basic black powder coat (easy to touch up stone chips with flat black paint also).
Thats what I had on other truck. Was quoted $562 on the black. Kinda wanted to go with stainless because the truck has quite a bit of chrome. I'll have to talk to my banker
(wife) and see what I can afford. That my be the most cost affective. Thanks
