Mounting a receiver mounted winch on trailer
Mounting a receiver mounted winch on trailer
I'm finally going with a winch for my car hauler(I'm sick of destroying come-alongs and taking a forever to load dead vehicles). The trailer is a 30' PJ gooseneck lowboy with wood deck. I ordered the Warn XD9000i Multi-mount, I need to figure out a way to mount a receiver on the deck of my trailer to accept the winch. Does anyone know of a receiver/mounting kit out there that is made for retro fitting a multi-mount winch onto a trailer that previously did not have a winch or receiver mounted on it. If it comes down to it, I suppose I could fabricate a receiver mount and attatch it to the tralers frame rails, but if there's a kit out there to do that I think I'll save some time and go with that. Any info is much appreciated.
What about this:http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...=43576&R=43576
I'd just weld a reciever to the front of the trailer, run wiring from full size battery or dual Marine batteries on trailer, charged by truck, on the trailer.
It should do the trick.

If you look closely, you can see how I attached the MileMarker 12#K hydro winch to the front center of the aluminum GN I built... just welded a receiver tube to the frame with some serious gussets.
That was fast, thanks for the info guys. I think I may have a truck receiver hitch sitting around, I'll mount that to the frame of the trailer with some extra gusseting(I'd rather over build if anything). I beleive Warn sells a wiring kit that allows you to plug the winch in when it's mounted at the rear of the truck, I would think I could use a that plug when using the winch on the trailer. Thanks again for the help.
