Most cost effective lift option?

Most cost effective lift option?

I'm not too savvy on suspension, but I want to lift 4-6 inches without the super high price tag. What are my options? I don't have a problem doing the work myself, but do not know my lesser expensive options. Thanks!

You will get multiple different opinions on this. It can be done relatively inexpensively, but it won't be "idea" for steering geometry and ride quality. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for.

With that being said, here's a breakdown of my small knowledge and opinion.

Probably the cheapest option is a couple inches of body lift and a couple inches of suspension. That way, you'll keep your suspension and steering close to factory, but still raise your truck. Some people don't like body lifts. They're great for doing engine work, because they increase the space between the top of the engine and the cowl area. However, they allow for taller tires because the body is further away from the ground and the suspension, but your frame stays at the same height. A combination kit might be as simple as a 3" body lift with 2-3" coil spring spacers. That would be a 5-6" lift. I'm guessing $400-$500 for the body lift and $65 for the spacers.

Your next option would be a 4-6" kit that uses most of your stock stuff. It would be a suspension lift, but not the best for ride-quality and handling. It would probably consist of:
6" springs up front, longer lower control arm (maybe upper too), track bar drop bracket, drop pitman arm, extended brake lines, drop brackets for the sway bar, shocks, and 3-5" block/u-bolt kit for the back. Probably around $1000-$1200

Moving up in cost, your next option would be a "long arm kit". That replaces your stock control arms much longer ones that allow more of a true "up and down" motion of your axle, instead of swinging in such a short arc. Ride quality and handling are drastically improved. That kit would be in the +$1500 range

The next two options or "add-ons" are really nice, but add expense quickly: Progressive soft-ride coil springs up front instead of the typical lift springs, and progressive leaf springs out back instead of blocks. Average price for the coils would be $400 and the leaf springs $600

Well I'll count myself educated. Thanks for the time! I don't think I'm ready for the long arm price, but if I go with the one just cheaper than it, I'm guessing I can add the long arms later right?

Yes, you could switch out the control arms later. PM me if you happen to want some 5" blocks and u-bolts for the rear.... I have a set for my truck that I decided not to use!
