Angry Megs exhaust tip!!!

Today while washing the truck I noticed something different, could not figure it out till I was cleaning the rims. The Megs 4 inch (slide on tip) was missing! What makes me mad is, it fit snug, even used a little hi-temp expoxy---then put a stainless rivit through it! I would have put a larger clamp on style on but I liked the clean look it had (check my photo gallery) I t stayed on for about 500 miles, so if you go this route I would either weld it, or use a larger heavy duty rivet. Can you weld a "stainless" tip to a factory exhaust?

Well thanks for letting me vent! Also now that I have to purchase "another" tip what do you guys have? I really liked the Megs, but am up in the air now of what to buy.

That really sucks. Do you think it fell off on the road or did it have some "help"?

Heck ya you can! Your stock exhaust is 4" 409SS.

That's a bummer man. I've got a 5"X18" from Source Automotive. The thing's a monster, stopped my drone too. Anywho, I need to get mine welded too. I used a clamp, but all that happens is the clamp material stretches and it becomes loose again. This is definitely motivation for me to get mine welded. I don't wanna lose mine. I certainly didn't know our stock exhaust was 409SS. That's news to me. I thought it was aluminized steel.

I had a Megs tip on my 01 for 4 years and have had one on my current truck for a year now. All I did was put a small self tapping stainless screw in mine and it is going no where.

the exhaust is aluminized steel. wire brush it, and weld it with 309 rod. stainless to steel...

That's what I thought. No way these things come stock with stainless exhausts.
