MBRP muffler: Which way does it go(spiral)?

Not sure if it matters or not, but which way does the muffler get installed, as far as the spiral flute orientation goes?

Hopefully I got the right muffler. It says M91031 on the box, but the invoice says...and this is realy funny, "snowmobile muffler". It was shipped directly from MBRP to my door....finally arrived after 2 weeks waiting.

Remind me to never order from Laguna Speed again.

so that gasses flow smoothly over the ridges, not so that gasses get caught in the holes...hooks will point forward

Glad you finally got your's. I'm still waiting on mine. All though I did get my cat pipe today. The guy at diesel manor said it was MBRP that was holding everyone up. He said they only make so many at a time, then wait to get a full order. It was shipped from Canada on the 3rd. So he said it'll still be another week. Keep us posted on how the install goes. Are you using the resonator. Let me know how you like the sound.

I think I understood you, until you said "hooks will point forward". What hooks?

BRJ,
I didn't get the resonator and hope I don't need to. If so, I'll probably regret the MBRP purchase, because I was going to get the AeroTurbine 4040L which is the model with a built-in resonator, but opted for the MBRP after reading mostly positive comments here at DTR.

The proper # for a Dodge 05 cummins is MK96116 I don't have a clue what they sent you.

I ordered mine today from DPP. Less than 3 hours later I already had a UPS tracking number. That's what I call quick service.

Could M96116 possibly be the alumized muffler, and M91031 the stainless version? The end of the box says diesel muffler along with the above part#. The 4" inlet/outlet is centered. Are they supposed to be, or offset? I don't remember what I've read lately.

The MK96116 is the Stainless Muffler and it is round no offset at all. I don't have a clue what they sent you.

The part #'s appear to have the same description; 6" round stainless muffler, 4" in/out centered, and 30" overall length. Hopefully it works.

I just ordered an MBRP Cat test pipe and resonator from the DTR store and got both of them in less than a week. I installed the resonator with the louver openings facing the rear thanks to the advice on this forum and am very happy with the sound of my truck now ( Of course I only did this for the Austrailian off road race I was in, then I returned the truck back to stock before I drove it on a public road) I also ordered some Stainless band clamps from Jegs at the same time to install the pipe and those were the Cats Edit.

Just a note for you DTR shop owners, Offer those for purchase as a more expensive option instead of the U-bolt style clamps, people will thank you.

Thanks again for the great service DTR store.

DirtEater,

I have a sinking feeling you're gonna get PO'ed at what I have to say. Look at that part number you listed as M91013, I bet it is M1031 which is a 30 inch long standard muffler(used in almost all MBRP complete exhaust systems), NOT the MK96116 replacement muffler designed for the CR Dodges, I bet you do not have an S shaped tube or any welded hangers at all, just a 30 inch overall stainless muffler. You might want to surrender and return it and call us we have the MK96116's sitting here lookng for good homes, along with the cat test pipes if you need one of those as well. By the way the MK96116 is ONLY available in 409 stainless as that is what the stock Dodge system is made of and that way they match material wise and do not start electrolosysis (sp??).

Mark @ DPPI

Almost forgot the direction of the louvers in the muffler is pretty much a non issue, it is designed for the openings of the louvers to be to the rear of the truck, ie if you look at the entry end you will see no holes. If you do it backwards it will be slightly quieter and create a small amount of restriction.

Mark,
What a fiasco! Laguna Speed truly blows!!! First time to order from them, and my very last.

After waiting 2 full weeks for a muffler that was promised for 2 day delivery before T-Day, I'm told today by MBRP that item M91031 is a ford/chevy muffler, and not a Dodge. Canceled the order today on the muffler, after Laguna Speed said that it would now take another week, and to top off that poor customer service, they said that it would cost another $80 because the Dodge muffler costs more, which I'm sure it does, but to me, it looks as though they're wanting someone to pay for their mistake and shipping charges.

Will be ordering from you tomorrow.
