HELP!Which way does the clutch disc go w/ a SBC

Can somebody tell me on my SB con ofe clutch if the friction side of the disc is supposed to go against the flywheel or the pressure plate. The disc has a steel side and a more "normal" fibrous looking friction side. It doesn't look like it will fit with the friction side against the flywheel, but I'm no genius when it comes to this stuff so if anyone could share their experience I would appreciate it. Thanks
Spencer

IT should be stamped on the disc, "fly wheel side"

I haven't installed that clutch yet, but normally there is section in the center of the disc that has springs and protrudes out farther on one side than the other, that side goes towards the pressure plate.

The one that Keith put in mine was marked FLYWHEEL SIDE if I remember correct.

I put it in with the protrusion out towards the transmission. After looking closer I don't think it would have fit the other way. It just threw me for a second when I saw that one side was made of a more metallic looking friction material that I wasn't expecting. I have been driving the truck all yesterday and this morning and it is working great so far. I am amazed that the clutch is easier to push now than it was stock. BTW I didn't see any stamp on the disc indicating it's direction.

Sometimes the sticker falls off or the ink gets wiped off. Always look for the springs protruding out more on one side than the other and that goes toward the pressure plate.
