metric tires confuse a lot of people. hopefully this will help,

for example your tire size, 245/65/17

245 refers to the width of the tire, it's 245 mm wide.

65 is an aspect ratio of the width and side wall. meaning, the side wall of the tire is 65% of the 245 mm width. or roughly 160 mm.

17 refers to the rim size.

so a 245/65/17 is about 9.5-10 inches wide and a tad under 30 inches tall.

here's a link that allows u to use a conversion computer is find alternative tire sizes. scroll all the way down the page.

Thanks that helps a little. So a 305/50R17 would be about the same height but a lot wider.

Stay w/ 17x9s, the 17x10s will cause even a 33" tire to rub. I now have 33/12.50/20s and they rub the rear of the front fender pretty good, plus I have a 2" level kit.

I will not be running a tire that tall it is for my 2wd and I also do not want the back spacing to be the same as stock I would like them to stick out a little.

Check with member 'badram'. His 2wd has 305's mounted on Pro Comp wheels. But he also has a Daystar 1.5" lift.
