Looking to by 17x9 or 10 wheels need help with tire sizes

Im going to get some aftermarket wheels and need help on what size tires to get. My stock size is 245/60 or 65R17 I would like to stay the same height but much wider but dont know what Im looking at when it comes to all the different numbers. Thanks

metric tires confuse a lot of people. hopefully this will help,

for example your tire size, 245/65/17

245 refers to the width of the tire, it's 245 mm wide.

65 is an aspect ratio of the width and side wall. meaning, the side wall of the tire is 65% of the 245 mm width. or roughly 160 mm.

17 refers to the rim size.

so a 245/65/17 is about 9.5-10 inches wide and a tad under 30 inches tall.

Thanks that helps a little. So a 305/50R17 would be about the same height but a lot wider.

yep, that's correct.

although i'm not sure if anyone makes a tire in that size. check toyo, and nitto's websites they usually make a lot of different sizes

How wide would a 285/60R17 be?

Stay w/ 17x9s, the 17x10s will cause even a 33" tire to rub. I now have 33/12.50/20s and they rub the rear of the front fender pretty good, plus I have a 2" level kit.

I will not be running a tire that tall it is for my 2wd and I also do not want the back spacing to be the same as stock I would like them to stick out a little.

Check with member 'badram'. His 2wd has 305's mounted on Pro Comp wheels. But he also has a Daystar 1.5" lift.

Does nobody make an LT 30 10.50-11R17 tire other than a mud tire I can not find any tires to go with 17x9 wheels Im going insane looking for tires.
