Local Performance shops.....
How many of you guys use local performance shops??? I am not going to any more. I am fully turned off from them. First bad experience was with my exhaust system. Larry Ellis gave me a sweet deal on my MBRP system so I got it from him. I went to the shop to have them do the install and they quoted me $300 for the labor. Mind you, 4 days before they said they would do it for $100 if I got the system from them for $300 more than what I got it for from my new shop. That was strike 1-2 pretty much for them.
Here is the home run derby here.....
I had previously also had an oil change done by them with amsoil. I paid for an amsoil filter and they charged me for 15 qts of oil?!?!? I didnt realize until I looked at the reciept last night to make sure about the filter. To top that off they cross threaded the wrong filter on there so when I put on the amsoil filter that I had purchased it didnt go all the way on. There was about a 1mm gap in there and let me tell you, these cummins have crazy oil pressure. That sucker pumped out a gallon and a half of oil all over my engine and my garage then down my driveway within about 30 seconds. That session was immediately followed by a huge thunderstorm that pushed a couple of inches of water into my garage spreading around all the oil. I was upset to say the least. Well when I get back up under there I unscrewd the filter while getting drenched with the leaking oil and found out what had happend, what to do, what to do...... I screwd it on and pushed it past the thread and got it tight. I tell you what, I will never go back to this local performance shop again. For anyone that wants to avoid the shop its called Truck Source Diesel
It is very unfortunate since the guys are as nice as can be, just some post college grads that opened up a shop and called them selves diesel performance guys though. I will stick with buying my stuff from Larry / Diesel Truck Resource and putting it on myself.

i have no local performance shops that do diesel really.. [there is one about 2 hours from me..]
i'd rather work on my own stuff.. if i f'k it up, i can't get so mad at myself as i could if someone else did..
and i am stubborn enough that i will spend more money if necessary to do it myself how i want it done, than have someone else do it for less [unless i don't have the skill/equipment to do it myself]
heck, i'll work on other peoples stuff most of the time for free too...

my local shop is about 22' from my place on the couch. nobody touches anything on my vehicles, travel trailer, house, etc but me. I am going to be the only one who screws up my things.

Yea I have had my fair share of problems with that shop also, though none as bad a Argo. I will be going to TDI here in a few minutes to talk to the guy and get a feel for their shop. Hows the rig running J? Man that fuel filter was an easy one, thanks for picking one up for me, what do I owe ya?
