Load %

Does anyone know how our edge boxes calculate the Load Value. I noticed it reflects the position of the pedal, but also how the engine is working. Just something I have been wondering

the ecm has a load chart built into it. It reads various parameters such as RPM, TPS, Boost, etc and calculates it. The edge box most likely is just reading that chart

i have a scangauge and it reads load and throttle position and many other stuff,it gets its info from the obd port, the load % is a cool feature to see how diferent tunes afect the engine,i found on my 01 that with the smarty on 7 the engine load was less than on 9 and with my 04 i found i use less thrittle position on rkl no timing than rkl with timing, its a cool gadget for cheap,im sure the edge does the same thing,if ur seeing 30%load while normal driving that pretty high,i see as low as 7% with everything i have on kill

Exactly...

One thing of note is that on 04.5 and 05 trucks at low load and rpm its not accurate...

Also, that number is instantaneous load, not total load.
