Lift pump advice

A buddy of mine has a 04 dodge 2500 and his lift pump is going out. He wants to go with an Air Dog set up. The question is which model would be the best for him? His truck is just stock other than a cold air intake and exhaust and his truck was built 6/04 so what is it, 04 or 04.5? Any help would be great!

He can go with the 100gph. That alone will support over 700hp.

On the other issue, have him check his valve cover on the drivers side, the HP rating is there. If it is 325hp/600tq then he has a 04.5, which is what I believe him to have. If it is 250 or 305hp, then he has an 04.

He needs to know what it is... if it has a canister mounted lift pump he has an 04.5. Look at the build date on the door. After 01 Jan 04, it is an 04.5, along with the valve cover data sticker.

It depends. If he defiantly is going to stay stock, go with the 100. If he has any doubts... go big.

I have the 2006 325/610 and the AD-100 GPH would have been sufficient for my truck because it is a stock engine overall, just a few intake/exhaust mods. I decided to go with the AD-150 GPH and will be installing it next weekend. If I decided to go up a little with 90hp injectors, maybe get the 'bag of parts' for the cp3, camshaft, and bigger turbo down the line, I still would not be pushing the margins of the pump. There is a rule of thumb regarding pumps, I cannot remember the exact number that applies, but it goes something like this - install a pump that has somewhere around 35% more power capabilities over what you think the max of the pump needs will be . . so, the 100 would have done the job with little to spare, and the 150 is 1/3 greater. Anyway, you should get the overall idea. I believe that I read that statement in Corky Bell's book, Maximum Boost. The text is basically about designing, testing and installing turbochargers for the gassers, but, much/most all of Bell's information in that text is the standard when it comes to turbo theory. He discusses fuel needs, rail needs and exhaust needs to support turbochargers.
