lets sum it up on '03-'04 smarty settings

before I picked up this tuner I was searching on here and found a thread where someone stated the smarty was the best for the '03-'04 pickups. better than bullydog, edge, ect. I've been running on level 3 and like it but want more.

My truck is stock except srt8 pipe and gauges (boost, egt) and the smarty now. Its an '03 3500 srw with the nv5600. would level 5 be ok on the stock '04.5 style lift pump? how about the clutch?

any other advice on tuning the '03?

My plan for upgrades are;

Lift pump
Clutch
50hp sticks
maybe bigger turbo if I feel like going that far.

thanks

I've been running mine on 5 for years.

Smarty is a duration box not a pressure box. Or did you mean a lift pump pressure gauge?

I had a edge w attitude on five and smarty on eight for two years
stock sticks lift pump and a 06 turbo made 480/1038
my advise is watch the pyro
I'd rearrange yer list to
lift pump
clutch sb 3600
turbo
then sticks

now run smarty and edge ez with twins

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realise the smarty didn't add pressure. I would need and edge or similar for that then? What about the tnt software?

adding pressure is bad for the stock injectors it can cause them to fail keep the rail pressure stock on the smarty and then turn it up for what your doing right now i believe the stock clutch will handle level 5 but when you get over that you might need an input shaft on the nv5600 i think somewhere around 450hp the stocker is good for. other than that my truck liked sw7 torque 2 or 3 timing on 3 for some reason (if it doesnt pop) if not timing 2 and rp 1 or stock and wastegate off. for some reason my truck on timing 3 was way faster and didnt pop until it got warmer out? now i run the tnt on sw5 or 7 with timing on 3 and it feels good. every truck is different!

I have always ran TNT now run TNT/R
I'd stay away from edge pressure box like Dr performance is my next step others will undoubtably tell you mp-8 or tst but constantly running pressure boxes will kill injectors period

I keep reading about how bad the pressure boxed can be so I will be staying away from them for now anyway. I want power but will not sacrifice reliability for it.
and to raspy, yes I ment Lift pump pressure guage.

My truck has been over 450 for years and now way north of that on the stock input

odd number software will pop on my rig i always run even
tq management 1 for twins, 4 for small single, 4 will smoke I stay low here
timing 2 on my stock stick worked best now with the 200+ sticks I run 3
Rail pressure get a gauge run 1 for better injector life trust me...

Mule,

Go ahead and get the lift pump now, before you have to get towed. I recommend the Glacier Walbro setup. My Walbro has been perfect for over 130,000 miles and I can slip in a cheap replacement in about 15 minutes if needed with minimal tools. Not a big fan of LP pressure gauges, but I do have one screwed onto the top of the fuel filter. When the LP fails it just fails and stops the truck.

I'd like to get a set of 50 HP injectors too, but my tranny already slips whenever I get on it so what's the point? After the tranny, the injectors and a 351 turbo are in the works.

x2, especially when you darn near run into the 12's with the Stock Exhaust and Intake.

IMO, If you are after reliability. I would invest in a Larger Turbo before installing aftermarket nozzles. Also, invest in a 2 micron fuel system to make sure that you have properly filtrated fuel.
