Exclamation Larger (taller) tires for a 04 Dually

I am looking for taller (35 inch or so) tires for my 04 Dually. I would like to keep my stock 17 inch rims or find some inexpensive steel replacements. Can I use a spacer? How big of a spacer? Where can I get one? How big of a tire can I put without the rears rubing? Thanks for any help.

I am gonna run 37's, and not sure on the spacer size. I have to find this out myself, as this will soon be my problem as well

arrowcraft.com will take care of your spacer needs. I run a 2" spacer between the duals.

OK next question. Did you have to change out the lugs?

You have to bore out the lugs on the outside duals, the spacer comes with a reaming bit that it basically idiot proof.

I just made a 1k trip with at least 20k behind me for half of that trip. I have also had 20-20k and ran up on (for lack of a better word) a hump of dirt with the outside dual to where the inside one was not touching and I have had zero probems.

There may be other ways to do it but you will also need to go to your local hardware store and get 16 nuts and washer to go on the ouside of your lugs so you can reuse your factory center caps. the spacers come with 32 new nuts. If I remember correctly the inside nuts are 7/8s and the outside are 1 1/16th.

Tires

dditt0635004x4

Did you have to use a 2 inch lift in the front? Did you have a "shimmy" after?

I did it. I got ProComp All Terrain 35/12.50/17 Load range D. 2.5 inch front lift/spacer and a 2 inch read wheel spacer.

Yes there is MORE than enough room between the duals. I'll have to see how the tires wear. They seem to bulge alittle in the center due to the narrow rims. I may recommend 11.50 width to anyone who doesn't need the wider tire and a 1 or 1.5 inch dual spacer.

Thanks for all your help.

Now I need to find a programmer for power/fuel mileage and to adjust the spedometer. It's showing 50 MPH when the GPS reads 55.3 MPH.
