large amount of noise from afe stge 2 intake

I installed a afe stage 2 intake and now there is a noise that comes from the hood if i get off the gas with the engine under load. The noise is as load as the defrost heater on maximum and sounds exactly the same as this inside the truck. Also occassionaly there is a growl from the turbo if i let off the gas when the truck is shifting from 2nd to third. Amyone know whats going on with this? It doesn't happen all the time. Thanks

it doesn't happen all the time but the sound is exactly like the defrost is blowing on max inside the cab. Sometimes louder. It is coming from the right hand side . I was wondering if driving the vehicle is doing more damage or if its ok to drive it till i can get it looked at? Ive only ran gas trucks before so dont have much experience with the turbo. It sounds like the high pressure air somehow comes back out from by the intake when i get off the gas.

That is basicaly what is happening. Like Pourin said don't let off so quick. You are what we call......barking the turbo.

ok thanks. I get the barking part because of getting on the gas too much but its the other part of the air flow and constant air noise at low speeds i was worried about.

no the turbo whistle is louder now but that was expected. Its air flow and identical to the sound the defrost blower makes on max and it comes from under the right part of the hood. it didn't do it before the intake was installed. its like you can hear the engine breathe, at low speeds when i let off the gas this noise comes out. it didn't do this before the intake was installed. Inside the cab it sounds exactly like the sound the defroster makes, everytime i let off the gas.

im not that familiar with turbos but it seems like the noise would be happening when the waste gase would be opening. Is there any way that air gets back fed through the intake?

The answer is barking as mentioned earlier,, it is an imbalance of intake air and output air. there is a post from about a month ago that explained it very well. Mine will do that alot too, especially when towing

If you really want to put your mind at ease, put the old air box back on and see if there's a differance.

mine does the same thing as well, i have learned to drive my rig smarter so to speak , to wear that almost never happens. i have had mine for aprox 2 yrs now and plenty of miles and nothing wrong thus far with the rig and no codes thrown either. i would'nt worry to much about it.
