Injector pump pressure changes

Hello,

When I first got my gauge for IP pressure it read above 7000 always at idle. This was with about 40,000 miles on her. Now some 40,000 miles later it is about 500 psi lower. Is this normal wear? What pressure is a 200,000+ mile truck run at idle?

Pumps wear out regardless of proper fueling (dirty or clean) and if it's hopped up it wears even quicker. I'd call Shane at Wicked Diesel or John at Floor It and ask them since they specialize in cp3's.

What's the pressure when you tow? My pump is going bad at 125k with 2 micron filter and 7 in the stock filter locations. I can't pull above 15k rail pressure when pulling my jeep.

I don't have my RP gauge installed yet since my truck is kinda stock minus smarty/mp-8 and airdog 150. But as soon as my goodies go in I'll be needing the gauge to make sure the 120's and dragonslayer don't get too high when I let out of the throttle.

Hello Kevins600,

I only tow a boat with a max weight of about 6500 so it's not a much of an issue. I cannot say that underway the pressures have dropped. 500 lbs here or there underway does not seem to be much. I have not noticed a performance difference at any time. Just wondering if this is a normal psi drop over time?

The RP at idle should be around 6k to 7k. Anywhere in between will be good. It sounds like you may have a dirty connection on your gauge though. Disconnect your RP gauge wiring harness and replug it back in. My gauge will change and this has always been the reason and the fix.
