Injector Advice - Options

Heading out of town friday my truck lost power and started running ragged, stumbling - CEL and code P2149. Searched here and it indicateds an injector problem with either #3 or #4 injector.

Not sure what the dealer gets for an injector, but it may be close to $1000 about the same as a reman of all six from F1 Diesel. I am not looking for anything crazy - stock cp3, AD100 pump and plan to stay put.

My fuel station just changed to 5% bio fuel -think this cold have kicked something loose to hang an injector.

Any idea how long it takes to get injectors done and back from F1.

Other options/advice appreciated.

How long has it been since you replaced the fuel filter(s)? Bio does tend to act as a solvent therefore stripping the fuel system clean of any deposits. You could try to replace your filters before taking on the expense of injectors. But on the other hand, the F1 injectors would be nice to have even if the issue were to clean up.

turn around time right now is about 3 weeks. when I sent mine down to him he had 70 to 80 sets that needed repair or upgraded.

Fuel filter was changed in May '09 - Air dog 3 micron - I have a new Fleetwood 2 micron unit to screw on. That should catch anything from the tank to the lift pump but from the lift pump to the cp3 to the injectors are on their own.

Is the three week wait for a rebuild, is it possible to "buy" and then return my stix for a core credit?
