Information on TQ & VB on 03

(See my Sig.) What can be done, (if anything) with the 47RE to make it hold 350 to 400 max hp? Will a TQ & VB upgrade add hp and how much hp? Can this be done on the 47RE? Would it just be better to upgrade the whole tranny? What is the best bang for the buck? Any information will be helpful. Thank you. javahjoeo from Kokomo

Call up Stefan at DTT. He told me to get just a new VB in my 47re and man it's holding great. It's holding over 370hp right now although I don't recommend towing with it like that. He set mine up to hold 350hp and it did that great without any slipping at all. Give him a call. He'll set you up with whatever you need and nothing you don't.

Hmm, interesting. I want to put a small box on my truck, but with the 47re, am scared to do it right now. If yours has held up big blue, I may consider going to a vb and then do the rest of the tranny later.

Big Blue, What is your driving style? Do you rag your truck a lot?

Everyday I'm forced to add another name to the list of people I've smoked. I'm not extremely abusive but I put my truck through it's paces. I lug the engine, I floor it at least once a day, I hot rod it, I do everything. I may just be lucky but who knows. Now I say this, my trans is dying though. It doesn't slip in lockup but you can tell that it's not liking life. It doesn't drop but maybe 100rpm's between shifts until it hits lock up. I also don't tow with my rig so that helps a lot and I don't floor it from a dead stop cause that's hard on the tranny. Overall I'm very, very impressed with just the VB. Stefan built me one heckuva a setup. I went from only being able to hold an EZ and 40hp injectors to holding a full on comp(120hp) with 100+hp injectors. I'm so impressed with it that this summer DTT is going to be getting a whole bunch of my money for their full tranny. Not to mention that if you get the VB now and wait till later on the tranny, you can reuse the VB on the new tranny and that saves you a little on the cost of the full tranny.

My DTT TC and VB have held up well the the EZ box on levels 4 and 5, My Quadzilla Race box, and more recently my Quad Race/Van Aaken C3.2 stack. I'm not sure how long it would have held up with the stack though. I just got the full DTT treatment as I should now be somewhere around 500hp. It will make a big difference in your truck and your driving habits will determine how long the rest of the trans lasts. Doing burnouts or hard launches will surely shorten the life of your trans..
