Injectors are failing on bone stock trucks. It is not the pressure so much as the dynamic pressure increases...although operating constantly at pressures over 23k might be a little harder on the injectors. To think you are going to be alright making over 500hp every day just because your pressures are within stock limits is false hope. personally I think high rail pressure demands at low rpms is harder on everything. ks

Very sad to hear about your luck, but you are right, if you are going to play, be prepared, you are going to have to pay. It isnt a matter of if, just a matter of when, your truck will fail if you are hitting over 600 hp. I just, after a couple of months research, bought a new truck, just for towing and such. Now I can go a little bit more on my 03, but I dont have another race car to take up all of my money.

YUP! when my first injector failed, I was on the stock CP3, and the EZ has always been on the low setting for daily driving. When I was towing this heavy load, the TST was on timing only, and the smarty was on the Mildest setting. EGT's were only 1100 on the steepest hill, and I was still accelerating! Loved that GT42!!! It was pulling much better than I'd ever dreamed...until good ole stock injector failure! Guess I should've put a set of DonM's sticks in it way sooner!

No the 2nd was with DDP90 nozzles and stock bodies. Actually the injector that I think failed was the same one that went the first time, and the same cyl. that blew the headgasket last year... Pattern??? NAH

well its a shame to hear your getting rid of your stuff. I get pretty mad sometimes at my truck because I drive it everyday at the moment, but looking for a beater to drive to work. at least take some pics of your truck to keep and someday you can say I had this dodge and it had tons of power.
I think you will be dissapointed in how something else pulls your big trailer, but I see why your are done, I bet I would do the same thing

Hey WhiteSport, I just caught this thread but I know I saw you on the side of I-45, north of Huntsville. I was going north to pick up my daughter from a friends over Spring Break. I didn't stop on the way north (for me) because of time considerations. Looked to be plenty of help there, I would have simply gotten in the way .

Heading back south, about 2 hours later I saw you guys getting ready to unhook the trailer. There were 2 cars and a truck there for assistance so my presence in a VW Jetta most likely would have created more possible traffic problems. Glad you guys made out O.K.

My buddy had to go strictly work truck, play truck. Driving a highly modified truck every day is possible but can get frustrating and expensive real quick. Good luck with your projects.

P.S. I only saw the rear of the Supra in the trailer, thanks for the pictures early in this thread.

Jim

LOL! Yup that was me! We were probably quite intoxicated and sunburned at the point you were headed back south. We were just waiting on the tow rig and tow truck...

I know eventually ill have a problem, i just dont like to admit it to myself! But im usually close enough to my brothers diesel shop that its not a problem... Anyways i think once his truck is back to stock he wont appreciate it, i did this with a hoped up car once, when it was back to stock and i got into it i would always think about how weak it was compared to how it was and it disgusted me! Everyones different though.

Sorry to hear about all the troubles. I guess the faiure was due to the crankcase getting filled with diesel? It might not have been an injector, are you running modified injector tubes? Do you have a rail pressure gauge and or mechanical oil pressure gauge? Everyone here learns tips from this forum and one of the lessons here is monitor the oil pressure with something other than the factory idiot gauge.

That's a good point Woody! I now strongly recommend a rail pressure guage and mech. oil pressure guage. The factory one is simply an on/off guage... There's no doubt in my mind that the pressure was getting low, before the failure, but the stock guage showed nothing but sunshine and kittens!
