HTT Turbo / Smarty Users - Overboost Code

All, I have an HTT 62/13ss Turbo and Use Smarty (Beta or TnT)....i have the boost resister (came with turbo) installed and the smarty wastegate setting disabled.....but i'm still getting an overboost code....

Thoughts as to why i'm getting the code? Bad Resistor? Need a boost fooler?

That's weird. I haven't had a single code since I switched to my smarty. Anyway, if it was a bad resister i would give a code for a W/G actuator fault, not an overboost. I'd say , either the W/g setting on TNT isn't working, or it's still ON. I'd start with double checking the setting, & maybe try it the other way. I'd also call Bob with the #'s to make sure it's not a programing issue with your version, & your truck year. What boost #'s are you seeing?

As soon as you go over 44psi you will probably get the overboost code. That is all the Smarty will fool to.

The resister just tricks the ECM into thinking the electronic wastegate is still hooked up.

You need a boost fooler.

X2 on the boost fooler. The smarty can only fool up to 44 PSI, after you hit that, it sets a soft code.

the good thing is the fooler is only 65 bux, and installs in 2 minutes, and that is if you miss the hood latch release the first time ya go to open the hood.

OK, makes sense....didnt think i was hitting 44psi + boost....i'm actually only shooting to put out 42psi max boost...

In any event, i'll order a boost fooler, install my adj. boost elbow and set my boost to low 40's so i dont blow a hg....

Thanks guys!

What was yours set for when you got it? Mine was set out of the box for 42#, & I have to hit it real hard to get it there. Usualy only get 41# unless I have my camper on.

I thought mine was set at 42 as well, but maybe not if i'm throwing the code..not sure, things happen in a hurry when it gets there....

What if your truck throws that code when you first start it or sitting in traffic. I almost always have a CEL for P0234 and it comes on when I am not making any boost. Of course I have set if of while getting on it as well but I get very irritated having an almost constant CEL when I am not fooling around.

Sounds like you have a bad MAP sensor.
