HtB2 64/14 problems

My buddy just got a HTB2 64/14 on his 05 and hes not seeing much of a difrence. Still not cleaning up his crazy larry and injectors, is the boost on this turbo adjustable? Or is he just expecting to much out of this turbo?

What kinda boost and EGT's is he seeing? That turbo should be able to clear that up. Is he possibly draining the rail dry? I thought I read somewhere that once the rail starts getting low it starts creating nothing more than heat and smoke.

My truck with the 62-12 smokes like crazy on the high settings. My waste gate was set at 36lbs new. WAs told actuator arm could be adjusted but a real pai in the rear to do on the truck. I just changed the boost elbow to one that comes with the Edge modules .Boost is now around 44 lbs.

I seem to have the opposite problem. I don't have any smoke at all except really low boost times. It clears up fairly well with stock turbo.

Thanks for the help Allen. I didn't have an account set up here yet so he just asked for me. I'm hitting about 1500 on my crazy larry settting but even on stock i'm hitting 1100 pretty easy...... My boost is right under 40psi.. the turbo is used but in GREAT shape.

So do you think that a moded cp3 will help? If so how much?

my gauge only goes to 35 but it looks like right about 40psi. It looks like it already has the different elbow on it so can I still get more boost out of it my adjusting the wastegate, and how do I adjust it. I was looking at it and i'm uncertain.

You need closer to 50 out of that turbo. Get a different gauge...and crank the wastegate more closed.

Call your turbo dealer...it is really simple adjustment.
