how much more can i go over stock?

i'm thinking i want a little more power, but how much can i go without smokin the clutch? i want better power and mileage, should i buy a programmer or a box? and which one? dont really need a hotrod, but if thats what i have to do to get better mileage then so be it and ill just save up for a clutch.... my only experience was with my ford (04 f350) which i had a superchips programmer. i used the "economy" mode which got me about 100 miles more per tank and enough power to smoke the dual rear tires (without spooling it up first). something like that would be nice for the dodge...

Depends on how you drive. My 03 six speed had 100hp added, and my stock clutch lasted 60K. But if youre trying to play speed racer, you'll fry it within weeks.

More will chime in, but I wouldn't go over a 100hp chip, and for towing, I'd lower it to 75 or so. Manual clutches aren't that expensive, I'd buy guages, clutch, then chip

i drive fairly conservative ( i get it out of my system at work). when i added an edge-ez to my 2002, the tranny went almost immediately. i'll be adding gauges soon either way, just to keep an eye on things.

QUADMAN... done the search 3 times in the last couple days and didnt get anything close to what i was looking for.

The search function has been very screwey lately. It works for me maybe 25% of the time.

I have a 100 h.p. module (Quadzilla Xzillaraider Std.) and I'm rolling on 35" tires and my 48re seems to be holding up just fine. I'm pretty easy on it most of the time with the occasional blast. I even had it stacked with the Triple Dog for a while. I have never done a boosted launch nor have I power braked.

pauly, clutch my friend, not the auto. we will forgive you this time
i ran the quad race for 2 years, towing on level 2 for 2 years, no clutch trouble, until smarty. then it was gone.....stick with the quad, it'll last a good long time as long as you dont do clutch drops, sled pulls, burnouts, etc. but there is no fun in that.

As for Edge's modules, they are still good stuff but so many guys seem to be shooting for higher HP/TQ numbers and there are other programmers/chips out there that give more power. Plus there are so many available power adders these days, a certian product is much less common than a few years ago. Edge is good stuff though. I had an EZ on this truck and was very happy with it for what it was. They have good customer service too, but you can't top Quadzilla's customer service. I would go in that direction.

I started out with Quads 100hp box at about 30K miles. Then stacked a Van Aaken c3.2 with that a little later. Now I run the Diablo Predator on extreme most of the time and add the c3.2 when needed. Still have the stock clutch in, but I don't power brake or do boosted launches. Clutch slipped once when I had Quad on 100 and c3.2 on 140 and I lugged it in 6th. Decided not to do that again.
