I have a mostly stock '04 (see sig). I can get to ~1300 peak on the EGT with Smarty on 5 (no adjustments to standard REVO catcher 5).

How much cooler can I expect to run if I get a boost elbow and set the turbo to ~30psi? I currently max out at about 23.

What would you expect my peak EGT to be if I upgrade to a HE351 turbo (from a '05 truck) and set it to ~40psi peak?

I'm wondering if I need to upgrade to the HE351 to keep my EGTs cool with the Smarty on 5. I can upgrade to a nearly new HE351 for $300. Would I be better off spending that money on an intake or exhaust?

I run my Smarty on 5 with stock TM and max timing...I have to push it HARD on a hot day to get to 1200 degrees running around empty. I'm pretty happy with the setup. Trust me, if my clutch would hold it I'd turn it up a little more.

 

i'm not sure on the 04, but i know the 04.5+ 1300* is nothing to be concerned about at all...maybe diff for your year....

Swaping to the bigger turbo will raise cruise egt's slightly and reduce more agressive throttle egt's...

Again, not an 04 expert, but on the 04.5+ trucks an $80 muffler swap will help witht egt's as will a $60 drop in air filter....

If you can swing all three for around$450, you'd definately enjoy excellent egt's....
