It is the programing that makes the truck defuel at 3200 till it shifts...not the tranny.

So if that's the case, then a Smarty should cure the problem in an othewise stock truck. Is that correct?

It seemed that the Smarty fueled my '03 for a couple hundred extra RPM prior to the rev-limiter knocking off the fun...

Nope, just makes it worse. You need to modify the parameters for the TV control to get it to shift and not hang. The program for the TV uses speed, rpm, and APPS to determine its settings. More rpm and speed with less APPS will net the same problems. You have to override the ECU signals to get a decent shift.

he is talking about when you are at wot from a stop the 1st to 2nd shift the engine will hang at 3000 rpms a while until it shifts. the lock up controller i installed eliminates the 3000 rpm hang by over riding the ecm signals and has it shift earlier. i would have to go out and run it to let you know the exact rpms it shifts at now but i think its more like 2500 rpm and its on to 2nd gear.

So what's needed then, an ATS Co-pilot or something?

I just ordered a DTT Shift Enhanser to try to fix some of these problems. Others have reported it cleaned up a bunch of theirs.

I have enough miles it may be the Governor pressure sensor on mine that is causing issues but with a power enhancer you will need something even if everything is good.

Are you seeing hangs in all the gears or just drive? These governor sensors are really junk and it is not inconceivable a new one is not right.

The Smarty will fix that problem. You will never see 3000 rpms with less APPS...only WOT. That hang is duefueling...not tranny indecisiveness.
