Rye is correct about the legality of it. Myself, I've only seen one. I know around my parts....yes, even in Texas....lots of small towns are cracking down on noise violations. Straight pipe equals a quick ticket and even possibly a trip to the impound yard.....I've seen it happen. I know a charger is a muffling device but the laws are getting strict. Some inspection stations around here won't even inspect the vehicle if it doesn't have a muffler.
Yeah, it's not going to fly legally. You might be able to in a small rural town, but anything with some size and you're not gonna cut it.
I've seen a few third gens with hood stacks... I think they have 2nd gen manifold flipped over to make it work. I was wanting to do one for a while, but I was going to make it where I could take it off easy and go back to regular exhaust if I needed to.

well we don't have any testing here in michigan (huge reason i still live here) and im honestly not super worried about legally just because from the info i have gotten and how loud my truck was it won't be any louder than it was with my twin cat stacks due to my twins now instead of my big single charger. so sense my down pipe for my chargers wasn't being built untill this weekend i called my builder and changed it to be used for a hood stack, im pretty excited to do it and i think as long as im not out running it like a crazy person i think that i will be alright but, worst case i change it and go another route. but once again i do have to say im soooooo stoked!!
It would be cool to have, I won't lie, and I'd do it if I thought I could get away with it.
Just be careful how you roll coal... attract attention to yourself and you are giving the man an excuse. You know this already... I'm just saying.

How loud it will be is only one issue, the real issue will be visibility. It's your truck so do what you want, but any cop that sees you should pull you and write you. You will be decreasing your vision just by having it through your hood and it will be worse when you get on it and she smokes. I for one don't want anything blocking my vision when I am mashing the accelerator. Anyway, JMO.

I relate this to my desire for 8" lift and 40s. I would love it for a couple months and then want to kick my own a$$...
I think in the long run you will be happy you didn't go that route!
Nice looking truck though....!
