Question about higher line pressure and resistor install
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My trans guy is going to install a new spring in my valvebody to increase line pressure so I don't frag my clutches. I know I need to install a electrical resistor to stop the ecm from freaking out. My guy said it may be best to install it at the trans instead of in the engine compartment.
What do you guys suggest (location)?
And what are some pressure suggestions? 150psi or closer to 200psi?
And at the higher end, he said he would worry about fragging the oil pump (possibly)...? or possibly lessening it's lifespan.?

You should not need a resistor on a 48re. I have built about 20 48re transmissions and have never needed a voltage regulator/resistor. At 200 psi of line press you will have to worry more about the factory front drum inner seal than the pump. Tim
How much line pressure will be ok to the factory front drum seal?
Where ón the trans do you check the pressure.
I think i go with low pressure, because i dont feel that it shifts firm.
I have also notice that my dtt tc slips a second or two when i floor the pedal.
Mike
Doesn't matter what line pressure you run, there are NO line pressure sensors on a 48RE. The only pressure sensor there is measures gov pressure.
If the builder does not do the VB correctly, the line pressure will flood the governor pressure circuit and trigger codes. Then you need a resistor and other fixes cuz it messess up the shifts.
