I thought about this a few years back and IMO it wont work, you wont be able to speed up the fake signal to the ECU, so the CC would eventually end up at WOT, not a selectable speed.... right???

That thought crossed my mind, but I have tried to use cruise when a vehicle is on a hoist ( to duplicaate a noise or vibration at a certain speed ) and it is VERY unstable. Can't seem to find a happy medium because of the lack of a load.

Hey were all in this for FUN! All these trucks have AUTO fast idle(I get TIRED of some newbie jumping in and saying "But MINE does it all by itself" What we WANT in our OLDER 3rd Gens is a MANUAL eaither by cruise function or?? FAST IDLE.Yea make mine THINK its a WRECKER with a roll back and RAMP UP.But don't cost us $400!

I have been told that the 3cyl.idle is LOUD and OBVIOUS.As I have NEVER heard one in my 5 years handling 2nd gens(yes it does get cold here, 17 last night) I can't say.But comments on the 2nd gen forum are like 'IT scared the HECK out of my neighbor at 5 a.m." after I got mine programed is not a comment I've ever heard from the FEW thats says their 3rd gens have 3cyl.idle.

I would compare it to a small block with a fairly aggressive cam. Again, by the exhaust sound only. Engine....steering wheel....all still felt smooth.

If you have an old Choke type pull you could put that in the cab and connect the cable to the top of the go pedal. The go pedal just pivots and pulls on a cable attached to the top. That should be real easy. All in the cab. Will need a ring loop at the top so when you press on the go pedal it can still pull more on the throttle cable. Just like a tractor does.

That could be done, but I wanna do it cool and electronically! You know, like all the cool kids have with their new shiny, fancy trucks!

Then the PTO route is the one to take.

BINGO!!! That seems to be ONE of the common factors that I have found so far out of all the ones near me that I have talked to. Why? Who knows, but every one's that does work, has the squared buttons. Now.....all I need is a new steering wheel and buttons right??!? LOL If it were only that easy! Talked to Bob Wagner tonight as well, he told me to talke to you soulezoo! We talked about yours specifically. I believe your's may have had the ecm replaced? We discussed the ECM and the breaking point of the ecm's, not necesarrily the production date of the truck as well. He was going to run it past Marco about my PTO idea. We'll see!

Well, my ecm is still the same one that the truck was delivered with. The only thing that has ever happened to it is smarty one way or another. I did some beta testing for them... the only thing I could offer is I had to do a forced reboot one time after the smarty jr testing. Otherwise it has worked as it is supposed to.

I think you have that exactly backwards. Up to 04.5 is Cummins based software as evidenced by the Cummins software ability to hook into the ECU and read stored parameters. The 04.5 and up was the DC based feature set that Cummins no longer had any hooks into.

Leastwise that was the story we got from DC when the other links were removed.
