high idle on an 03
Just hooked up my Jr today. Still no high idle. Although, my light for PRND21 does not work either so I guess I will need to download the update from 12-13. Is it possible that it may work after the update?
O.K......after a few hours messing around with it, I tried to use the PTO switch to get it to work. Well.....I forgot my DRB at work, and just hooking the PTO wire up didn't work. Auto's dont have the PTO wire from the factory, but there is a pin in the JTEC, so I used a spare terminal I had laying around to try it. Also figured out that in 03 they used 3 different PCM's. PCM, JTEC and NGC. Depending on which one you have, it changes where the PTO sense wire goes.
The saga continues! Hopefully I can get this all worked out soon!

After some more checkong, it looks like the PTO sense just disables certain OBD codes that could come up while the pto was on. O.K. that was a bust! Tomorrow I'll get the #22 terminal grounded on the ECM and see if that makes any difference. What the heck can it hurt huh?
Alright I know im coming into this a little late but as an owner of an early 03 and a diesel tech at a dealership I know that I was able to reflash my truck and that the high idle does work on mine, but here is the problem with me posting this: Before I did this reflash I had to replace the ECM and the body control computer on my truck due to internal electrical problems in them. About 3- 5 months after i replaced them is when i reflashed and installed the high idle feature. As soon as I can get my friend to bring in his early 03 I will check on his and see if I can turn on the function, his is 100% original and all stock. I will also look up some info tomorrow when I get to work and try my best to repost the info when I get it.
Mine is turned on, just doesn't work with the cruise buttons like the newer trucks. I still have the old standby high idle, just can't adjust it when I want. You are saying yours does? Also......fill out your sig. Upper left portion of the page , click User CP. Then fill out your sig with year, make , model, and mods!
i talked to a service writter at the dealership where i bought my truck yesterday, and he told me i dont need that tsb reflash. i explained to him that i would like to activate the high idle, and was told "i dont see why you need that". then he told me they would do it if i had to have it and it would cost $99. plus the techs time to do it. needless to say, i will be going to a different dealer from now on. i should have know better before hand though, they did some warranty work for me in the past and tried to screw me.
One thing I DID notice since my last flash update a few weeks ago ( I hadn't kept up on it like I preach!), is that under the Misc. Functions of the DRB, I no longer have the Enable High Idle Option!! Now I'm somewhat concerned!
O.K..........took a chance , and having the connections that my current job allows, I called the STAR Center Hotline. There is NO WAY to get high idle enabled on ANYTHING older than 04.5 .
The programming just isn;t in the ECM, and they have no intentions of adding it to any flash updates. ( Said they had bigger fish to fry with the 6.7l!
BUT!!!!! We did discuss the PTO sense input on the PCM side of the map. He does not know what the value is for the idle with PTO engaged, and would not give any advice on where, when, how to do it, butdid speculate that it could be possible. He just didn't know for sure. The FSM says that the PTO uses a 12V signal to the PCM, but the diagram shows it to be a ground circuit!?!?! I guess I'll try jumping 12V to it tonight and keep my fingers crossed! Wish me luck!

Now that is downright hilarious!

Multiple posts indicating it DOES work and IS available, a TSB issued by DC themselves indicating it is available, and the supposed "authority" saying no way no how it doesn't work.

This has got to be the most blatant example of the tech authority not having a clue I have ever seen!

I wonder what continent he was from?Just one more question, did he ask if you wanted to super-size that?
Did he at least offer a "Slushy"?
My offer still stands for anyone that needs to see that mine works exactly as advertised with the cruise control switch! And i've done nothing except download a smarty file or two... or twenty!
