Help. Getting bad mileage!!
I have a '06 5.9L 2500 diesel crew cab long bed 4x4.
I am getting about 13 mpg on avg.
Is there anything that anyone has suggestions to make that better!? I thought I would be getting better. My dodge is all stock no mods at all.
Please help!!
Thanks

How do you drive? Are your tires aired up?
I have a 6sp manual and get better than 20 when I am running empty and I keep it under 65. Worst I ever got was 11 going 80+ with a 5k trailer and a/c going full blast (it was 105) in west Texas.

Yes that's mostly city driving.
Tires are 65 in front and 80 in back.
So keep it under 65 mph?! Ok!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a mod to improve my performance!??
Thank you so much for yalls help!

I have an 06 with an automatic. I have religiously hand calculated my mileage since new. The best I have ever gotten on the highway was 15.5 and around town as low as 11 and no higher than 13. I have called cummins and and both were uiseless.
I run 65F 55R when empty.
Mods will only help if you can resist the urge to floor it every stop light.

Get a programmer and keep your foot out of it. I get 18-20 with 35x12.50s but I drive like an old woman. I have had a Smarty and the PPE. They are both good products but I saw too much smoke with the Smarty.
Before the programmer on my 05 I was at 13-15. Best case (13mpg before and 20 after) it took about 3 months for the programmer to pay for itself. The key is to keep boost under 10 and coast whenever possible and resist the urge to blow the doors off those ridiculous hondas with the silly exhaust.
Good luck!!
