Guys with 35" Toyo M/T I need you
Guys with 35" Toyo M/T I need you
Ok Iam wanting to upgrade to the 35x12.50R17 and have a few pre purchase questions.
1)with stock suspension from what I have read these may only rub slightly on control arm at full lock and this goes away as the tires wear down. Is this correct?
2)I have now 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers, honestly and realistically how much mpg are my going to lose ?? This is the main question for me as I drive mainly highway.
Keep in mind these will be on stock rims and I have 3.73 gears and auto.
I love the look of the M/T. I had Terra Grappler 305/70/17 on my old truck and loved them but I like how this M/T looks and fills up the area and it's a toss up between a new set of Toyo or Nitto depending on above.
Also does anyone know the cheapest place to order these online and any vendor that will ship to Canada ?
My dealer here wants $430 per tire

Don't know about clearance on stock ride height but www.tirecrawler.com is the cheapest place I found toyo m/t's. Also don't know if they ship to canada???
You probally wont see much of a difference in milage from what you have now. Its a pretty heavy tire but I dont think its going to be much heavier from the 285s you have on now. Not sure about clearence on stock.
I put a set of 35x12.50x17 M/T's on my truck the day I got it from the dealer, truck was completly stock. I did have quite a bit of rubbing at a full lock. I then put on a leveling kit and that pretty much took away all of my rubbing, it would only rub if I had the wheel fully turned and I was going over a bump or something. I now have a 4" lift and don't even worry about that anymore.
Being as I have a 03 I get real good mileage from the git go. On my latest trip from Minnesota to Nebraska I got the best of 21.2 mpg. Smarty on lvl 3 with the Dr.Performance box on. I also have 3.73's and the auto tranny.
I use to work for Les Schwab tires out on the West Coast. I order all my stuff through them and I get the M/T's for a steal, don;t know if they ship to Canada though. I was told about a week ago that the M/T's are on a national backorder right now. I dunno for how long though.
All in all if you go with the Toyo, I think you will be more then pleased. I 've ran 2 sets of 35's and a set of 37's and I can't believe how they act. They balance out better then some small passanger tires, they are not very noisy, I can pull 45k+ miles out of a set, great traction, ect.

Well after more research I think I have changed my mind to the 295/70/17 m/t.
Rather be safe than sorry and really don't want go too big. The 295 I can get for about $370 ea.
I really don't know if I'm going to level the truck and with 35" I think levelled looks best. The 295 look good on stock suspension or even leveled and don't suffer as much mpg loss
